Tips to Make Perfume Last

Tips to Make Perfume Last

When looking to make a lasting impression, perfume is a popular beauty tool to use. Today, there are a multitude of popular perfume brands, including Tom Ford Black Orchid, Calvin Klein Euphoria, Diptyque Eau Capitale, and Vera Wang Princess.

Women who are seeking an earthy scent may opt for fragrances like essential oils or even Valentino fragrance for men, which can be worn by both women and men. No matter your signature scent, here are some helpful tips to prolong your perfume all day:

1. Exfoliate and moisturize
When it comes to keeping perfume on all day, it is important to exfoliate and moisturize your skin. This will ensure that the perfume stays on the skin for longer. If perfume is applied to dry skin, the fragrance will dry up more quickly.  In order to create a better surface for your perfume, exfoliate and moisturize before applying your scent.  You’ll be rewarded with a much longer lasting perfume.

2. Spray perfume into your hairbrush
Spraying an alcohol-based perfume directly onto your hair could cause dry strands, so instead spritz the fragrance onto the bristles of your brush before running it through your hair.  This will allow your hair to absorb the scent without causing damage.

3. Apply Vaseline on pulse points
Another good way to make sure that perfume lasts all day long is to apply Vaseline (or petroleum jelly) to pulse points.  Applying a touch of Vaseline to your wrists or neck after spraying perfume will prevent the scent from fading away. It will also keep your skin moisturized, helping to maintain the perfume’s scent throughout the day.

4. Don’t rub away your favorite scent
Whenever you apply perfume to your neck and arms, one of the things that you should never do is rub your wrists together. This will eliminate the scent more quickly and prevent it from lasting for more than a few hours. When you don’t rub your wrists together, you will be able to keep the perfume and its scent on your skin for a longer time.

5. Spritz your clothing
One of the best ways to make your perfume last is to spray it on the clothing you plan to wear during the day. Spraying perfume on your skin may last a few hours, but it will eventually fade away.  However, when you spray perfume on your clothing, the fragrance will not be as likely to wear off. So if you want your fragrance to last, spritz it on your clothes and let the material absorb the scent to allow it to linger throughout the day.

Perfume is often expensive, so it’s important to ensure your favorite scent has staying power. There are some fragrances that last longer than others, such as oil-based vs. water based perfumes.  Once you find a perfume that you really enjoy, following these tips will allow you to make the best use out of your favourite fragrance.
